We have an announcement: RVA’s Ostreaphiles and Francophiles are getting hitched! Chef Francis Devilliers and owner Wendy Kalif from Shockoe Slip’s Bistro Bobette just told us they love our oysters. Our Eagle Flats will be at Bistro Bobette starting this Thursday! Read this lovely review by RVA blogger BTY to learn more about what Bistro Bobette has to offer.

The romantic connection between French culture and oysters is a gift France has given the world. Eleanor Clark’s masterpiece, The Oysters of Locmariaquer, is a wonderful tribute to the beauty seen in France’s seaside oyster farms. Ernest Hemmingway’s famous quote from A Moveable Feast described the inspiration that oysters provided him while sitting at a Parisian café for a day of creativity:

“As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy and to make plans.”

Join us this Friday at 7PM for a night of oysters and French culinary perfection at Bistro Bobette. We guarantee your tastebuds will be rewarded. Bon Appétit!
