Our oyster farm has brought us sacrifice, sore muscles, countless challenges, but most of all an unrelenting joy to be alive. Not an adult type of happiness, but rather the kind of unbridled sense of wonderment you see only in a child’s eye. The Neck is a special place, no doubt. It’s ability to boil life down to its essential juices is almost magical. Nothing is more rewarding than sharing it with those we love. Our oyster farm transforms our friends into children once again, even if just for an afternoon. It is a happiness we cherish, a gift unfurled before our eyes.

For life is certainly difficult at times. Downright cruel, in fact. Hardship, confusion, loss, and suffering have their sad, humbling place. To avoid them is both impossible and unwise. Hard times are what make THAT SPECIAL PLACE, all that more special.

For us, that special place is out in nature, preferably at The Neck. Whether you can find a small corner in a tranquil park, a trickling fountain in your backyard, or a ridiculously absurd oyster farm on the York River, we challenge you to find your place in nature. Returning to the natural fabric of our existence, water-earth-air-life, is both humbling and liberating at the same time. Nature speaks to your soul if you allow it. And it tells you just how small you are, if you listen. And you are here remember, only for a short, wonderful, suffering, exhilarating, joyous time. Don’t forget that. Get out there and live. We’ll grow oysters, if you don’t mind. Because for us, oysters are life.
